Goals
Create a sophisticated women’s OB/GYN space near uptown Charlotte. Incorporate natural materials and daylighting into the design.
Opportunities
By shifting the exam room and clinical areas away from the exterior wall, natural light was able to enter the circulations space from several angles. The use of lighter colors, accent lighting and wood elements also brought natural colors and elements into the space.
Plan
Novant Health Queen City OB/GYN is a first generation upfit halfway between Uptown Charlotte and South End. The new practice has 15 exam rooms, 2 large ultrasounds, 1 large procedure room, 1 large NST and Lab. Two private areas are provided to vitals for women comfort during checks. Break/conference for staff meetings and training. Circulation was oriented towards exterior to allow for natural light throughout the suite.
